I decided to build a talking tree over christmas one year and i freaked my parents out with all the mess over the carpet, but it only cost £20 to make and they did like it when it started to come to life. I used the following instructable (http://www.instructables.com/id/Animatronic-Talking-Christmas-Tree/) and started playing around with arduino and processing and mbrola the speech library to make Lenny say whatever i wanted. The next stage was to make it talk about current news feeds off the internet, but sadly i never got that far with Lenny.
